BagQuality Network
Far too many passengers have experienced delays with or total loss of their baggage. As well as being a great inconvenience to the passengers, it also represents a huge
cost to the industry. Lyngsoe is aiming to reduce the current level of mishandled baggage by 50%. We will achieve this by improving both the baggage handling processes and the cooperation between the parties engaged in baggage handling. To aid us, we have taken a holistic approach to the entire process, literally reviewing it from end to end. The BagQuality Network is the result of our holistic approach. It consists of a selection of new BagQuality
tools and encourages cooperation between all parties involved within the baggage-handling network.
BagQuality Network benefits
With BagQuality Network it becomes possible to:
- analyze baggage quality in a network based on facts
- identify bottlenecks and inadequate baggage processes
- receive factual process data relevant for SLA / negotiations with airlines, airports and handlers
- access proposals for improvement of baggage quality
- receive factual process data usable for quality based invoicing
- provide passengers with new service information.
From a position where baggage service quality has not been measureable, you will gain access to tools for management as well as improvement of baggage service
quality. And a platform for new passenger services.
BagQuality Measurements
The data input to the BagQuality Network system is provided by the BagQuality Measurement system. An individual bag is tagged with an RFID tag and read by RFID reading points placed strategically between check-in and the fl ight. The identifi cation and process data are immediately available for use by the multitude of BagQuality tools. The collected process data are stored on servers at Lyngsoe making the data independent of airports, airlines and handlers. The BagQuality Measurement system is based on statistical measurements. This means that not all baggage needs to be RFID tagged in order to use the tool. However, airports with an existing, fully implemented Lyngsoe RFID-on- Baggage solution for sortation can apply the BagQuality tool directly. Where all baggage is RFID tagged, the deployment of the BagQuality system can also be extended to provide new passenger services. The accurate process data provide the input to a large number of advanced analysis and tools; all aiming at improving the quality of the baggage handling, reducing cost and optimizing the passenger experience!
